RESEARCH THAT BENEFITS CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

The research for ADHD. My stepson was diagnose with ADHD. For the longest children with ADHD was label for special education. It took some time before they knew information about ADHD.
I find some information that was useful to me about ADHD.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorders during childhood (Tannock & Schachar, 1996; Shaywitz, Fletcher & Shaywitz, 1994; Shelton & Barkley, 1994; Kavanagh & Lyon, 1994; Barkley, 1990b).  ADHD includes a heterogeneous array of symptoms which overlaps markedly with oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, affective disorders such as depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, and communication disorders.  ADHD is characterized by a persistent pattern of behavioral symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsively (APA, 2000; Barkley, 1990a, 1990b).  Children showing behaviors that are characteristics of ADHD have been found to be highly “at-risk” for maladaptive educational and social outcomes. PERSONAL RESEARCH JOURNEY

This week I changed my topic because my first one would be too big to research. So this week I picked "Parental Involvement with their Preschool Age Children" The reason I chose this is for information for myself. I just enrolled my 20 month old son in a child care program and I want to know just how much involvement I should do beside just paying his tuition, or just helping him with his homework daily. I talk to his teachers daily and see the progress he is making but I feel like I should be doing more. I want to do more. I want to have an impact on all the education he will receive. I will like if any of my colleagues could give me any point about the matter. Thank You in Advance.
