Childbirth

On January 11, 2010 at the age 40 I gave birth to a 6 lb. 8oz boy. My son was born healthy. This is my first child and I wanted to have him natural without any painkillers. I did not know what to expect from the labor but in the end I received an epidural. After researching other countries such as Japan and Germany who strive to give birth without painkillers. Japanese believe that labor  pain acts as a test they must endure for motherhood. I am glad I had a choice to request the painkiller that fitted me.

  1. We may have read the same article regarding Japan. Woman in the Netherlands also refrain from painkillers. I am so thankful that an epidural was available when I gave birth to my son. I think that an epidural takes some of the stress out of the experience and everyone should get one.

  2. I agree with everyone that epidural is a life saver. I did have one child born without pain killers and to this day I do not remember the pain but the recovery was quicker than the epidural births. But I am very glad that we have a choice.
